Consortium has established itself as one of Britain’s leading chamber choirs
Since its formation in 2006 Consortium has established itself as one of Britain’s leading chamber choirs. Its singers, which vary in number, have a wide experience both working with Europe’s top ensembles and as solo performers. They were formed initially with the twin aims of exploring both neglected early music and romantic and early twentieth century music influenced by it in the belief that the same singers would be ideally suited to both.
Equally as at home therefore, in the concert hall performing secular chamber music as they are in the church singing glories of the renaissance, critics have been keen to observe the innovation, intelligence and balance of their programming. They record for Hyperion Records for whom they have released two critically acclaimed discs of Brahms and Reger, of which Gramophone remarked “One suspects this repertoire could have found no finer exponents”.
